Total Knee Arthroplasty (Knee Replacement)
Pre -operative
69 year-old man with debilitating knee pain, which prevents him from walking for exercise. He's failed to improve after cortisone shots and arthroscopy. X-rays show severe arthritis. Total knee replacement was recommended.
Pre-op x-ray shows "bone-on-bone" degeneration and bone spur formation
Post-operative
Post operative x-ray after knee replacement Comment: Knee replacement usually provides good to excellent relief from severe arthritic pain.
This patient was able to resume exercising after his recovery, and remains free of pain.
